Court Challenge Launched Over Eligibility Of Mentally Incapacitated To Vote

If he is intelligent enough to know whom he wishes to be his president for the next four years, then who are we to stop him from voting? There are far worse examples of wasting a vote. Those who cross lines in primary elections to essentially choose their party's opponent, those not informed on the issues and candidates and "guessing" or simply show up to vote on a single issue. All of these examples mind you are perfectly legal and practiced by so called sane individuals.

A lawsuit is challenging Missouri's law that says people who have guardians because of "mental incapacity" cannot vote and can face criminal charges if they do vote. The lawsuit has been filed by a St. Louis man who says he moved from Illinois to St. Louis earlier this year but was refused the chance to register to vote. He has a court-appointed guardian in Illinois and a court is considering appointing one for him here.
